The Acorn’s Worth

A pinecone and an acorn sat together on the ground, watching the world pass.

Said the pinecone to the acorn, “I protect over a hundred seeds inside my armor. If I do my job well, I could plant a whole pine forest!”

“I only protect one seed,” said the acorn. “And squirrels are constantly trying to eat me. If I survive, I might plant a single oak tree.”

“Only one?” taunted the pinecone. “What difference will that make? Only one lonely tree!”

At that moment, a great storm passed through, washing away everything on the ground except for the pinecone and the acorn. They looked up to see they were shielded by an ancient oak tree.

“It’s not about how many possibilities you have,” said the acorn. “It’s about one of them coming to fruition.”
